  3. Dumondetech oil DUMONDE TECH OIL   New bicycle chain lube. Well, relatively new. High tech stuff. This product is available online from Western Bike Works and the following information was copied from their website: "Dumonde Tech Bicycle Chain Lubrication Talk about cult followings -- Dumonde Tech Bicycle Chain Lube (BCL) has it like no other lube we've ever carried. According to virtually anyone who's ever tried it, BCL will keep your drivetrain components cleaner, let them to last longer and allow them to run quieter than what you'd get from any other lubricant out there. BCL forms a long-lasting coat on all chain surfaces. As you ride, it forms a low-friction plating which bonds to the chain and can't be washed off. It's environmentally sensitive and it's extremely durable, as one ounce should provide roughly 10 applications. To get the best results from BCL, first clean your chain and dry it thoroughly prior to the first application. This effectively primes the surface for the "plating" effect that makes BCL so successful. For the first application, we recommend putting one drop on each link to really aid the plating effect, wiping the excess from the chain after it has had time to work itself into the pins. When reapplying, do so only by listening to your chain, not by its appearance. Use soap and water to clean the chain prior to reapplication -- strong solvents and degreasers will remove the protective plastic plating from the chain, putting you back at square one. Allow three applications to achieve optimum plastic plating. Dumonde Tech offers two versions of their BCL, the Lite (which we recommend for road bikes) and the Original (which we recommend for mountain bikes or for when you're readying for Paris-Roubaix). The Original is more concentrated than the Lite and excels in the most challenging conditions. The two BCL formulas are compatible and may be used interchangeably."

  4. Kabletec KABLETEK FLEXWEAVE CABLES   I have bought and used different bicycle locking systems over the years, but this is the one i have liked using the most. It is well made and easy to use. Rolls up nicely. I do not like self-coiling cables or accordian cables. This type of cable threads easily into openings that may be available for bicycle lock-up. This cable system is probably good only for use in lower crime areas and for quick visits to the grocery store or some other short stop visit. It is easy to set the combination. I noticed the manufacturer has changed the end cap to a soft rubber in order to reduce breakage. They used to be made from hard plastic and broke easily. This cable comes in three different lengths: 6 ft, 7 ft or 10 ft. I like the 7 ft and 10 ft sizes best. These cables can be bought from   rei.com. Also, want to mention these cables are very flexible and are never stiff or hard to work with.

  5. Kryptonite Locks KRYPTONITE EVOLUTION MINI LS U-LOCK   This particular u-lock is the one i like best. It is lighter than most and easy to carry in my bike bag or basket. It is listed with the following information on the Kryptonite website: "Bicycle security for moderate crime areas. SKU - 997948. 3.25" x 9.5" (8.3cm x 24.1cm). 13mm MAX-Performance steel shackle resists bolt cutters and leverage attacks. Reinforced cuff over crossbar and cylinder for added security. Improved high security, disc-style cyclinder. High security Bent Foot(TM)design. Center keyway defends against leverage attacks. Anti-rattle bumpers reduce noise during transport. Rotating dustcover protects cylinder. Includes versatile EZ Mount transportation bracket. 3 keys - one lighted with high intensity bulb & replaceable battery." (Please note: picture of lock on the right has been modified or shortened. Actual lock picture is much longer!)

Our emphasis is on a more relaxed and comfortable style of riding, and on refined bikes that are comfortable on a century ride, an inn-to-inn tour, or even on a ramble down your favorite dirt road. This type of riding is called cyclo-touring or randonneuring". They sell lots of bicycle goodies including a line of Brooks Saddles.

"Easton pedals are the choice of top racers including Brian Lopes, as well as top teams like Team Intense. Why? Because they want the performance advantage that comes from Easton's thoughtful design and engineering.

"The best [platform pedals] I've used so far, and among the most popular in the pro ranks, are the Easton Flatboys. ... And, as much as I've hit dirt and rocks and sticks and people, these things continue to stay smooth and straight. $104 for these CNC-machined beauties is a great deal ....The main difference I notice is that Shimanos don't feel as solid. A little more give, a little less support. I still like them and happily ride with them, but the Eastons are my preference." ~Mountain Bike, June 2000"

With this system, a full size road or mountain bike will fit completely inside a single 26" x 26" x 10" case that travels as regular airline luggage. Some framebuilders manufacture full size tandems that will fit complete, including the wheels, in the same case!" Looks like a good item to use for parents who want to help tow their child who is behind on their own bike. I think it could be compared to an automotive tow bar type arrangement. A tow bar for bicycles. "The only product available that allows you to convert virtually any two standard bikes into a tandem configuration and back in about 10 seconds. The link bar connecting the bikes has a special patent pending design that allows one section to "float" about six inches, letting the link bar lengthen or shorten during a ride. This lets two bikes move freely back and forth in relation to each other and, coupled with a spring system, is the secret why using the Tandem Rack has such a smooth ride and feels more like riding individually than it does riding a traditional tandem bike".

  43. AEROSPOKE WHEELS   "This wheel was designed to be a strong, aerodynamic, fast, low-maintenance wheel. Aerospoke is one of the most recognized and respected names in composite wheels. Aerospoke has been making carbon composite wheels longer than anyone else in the world. We have seen wheel makers come and go, but we have remained because we are dedicated to providing our customers with a wheel that not only looks great, but performs well, and is durable enough to justify spending your hard-earned money on. Aerospoke absolutely does not sacrifice the durability of the wheel, or the safety of the rider for a few grams weight savings. Weight, or lack of it, does sell in the bicycle industry. However, quality and reliability keep them coming back. Ask our customers- many have been with us for over seventeen years. Aerospoke wheels were designed with every rider in mind, not just the 130 pounders. The wheels offer something for everyone: The sport rider, fitness rider or commuter no longer has to true their wheels. They can use that time riding instead. The competitor can have a fast, aerodynamic wheel that is also durable and resilient. All Aerosopoke five-spoke wheels are assembled proudly using American craftsmanship and the finest materials. 53. BICYCLE SAFE   This website seems to be pretty good about riding your bike in such a manner as to increase your chances of survival. "This page shows you real ways you can get hit and real ways to avoid them. This is a far cry from normal bicycle safety guides, which usually tell you little more than to wear your helmet and to follow the law. But consider this for a moment: Wearing a helmet will do absolutely nothing to prevent you from getting hit by a car! Sure, a helmet might help you if you get hit, but your #1 goal should be to avoid getting hit in the first place. Plenty of cyclists are killed by cars even though they were wearing helmets. Ironically, if they had ridden without helmets, yet followed the guidelines listed below, they might still be alive today. Don't confuse wearing a helmet with biking safely. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It's better to not get hit. That's what real bicycle safety is about".

"For the serious commuter, nothing beats the Jandd Ankle Strap. Made from 1.5" hook and loop material (which meets SCUBA industry wet-strength requirements), the ankle strap will not let you or your pant legs down in any weather. 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material adds safety to your ride in low-light or night conditions. 72. RANGER JOE'S BOOT BLOUSERS   For those of you who would prefer a neater looking way to strap your lower pants leg cuff — try using military type elastic blousings straps. I bought the one inch size to try the idea out and it works good for me. Ranger Joe's sells two different sizes: A 1" wide strap and a 2" wide strap. They use velcro style hook and loop closure. Look for item numbers 9565 for the 1" and 1696 for the 2" wide size. You use these straps by tucking the cuff of your pants leg under the bottom of the strap which serves to hide the strap from view.

  73. BIKE EYE MIRROR   A new mounting concept for rear view mirror attached to bicycle frame. USA buyers can order from this website.
